DISABILITY IS NOT INABILITY

[Poem, 1st Place in the Special Needs Committee Writing Contest | Ken Kena UGSOL ’28]

A vision I sought but could not see,

The opportunity to study law given me.

Graced with this noble platform,

Navigating braille to academically perform.

Physically limited but intellectually gifted.

A fiery passion within me ignited,

Truth be told I am excited.

Meeting people of high intellect, nothing less I expect.

Faced with physical challenges, can I stand law school challenges?

Keeping me late at night is the fear to lose the fight.

Law school not being a race, I go at my own pace.

Although the future seems unclear,

My dreams I will forever hold dear.

My disability not being inability.

  1. Great piece!

A beauty to uphold, a soulful, edifying and uplifting piece to encourage all and sundry with one form of disability or the other.
